The sadness sets in stone,
and in pebbled flings of hands, ripples the water.
My gaze meets each inch and and travels upward the sky,
where the clouds are melting and gurgling like white lightning,
and coming mistily down to screen the darkness.
It’s draped in white.
And my exploration trembles behind,
arms begin spacing, knees start to heel,
everything is a snapshot dragged across time in flaming orange,
pacing each wooden moment, floor to my feet.
Maybe in a million nights,
I could approach the fluttering sound of my heartbeats, and color my breath with Sharpies on an easel,
with water trapped in a petite bottle, shining like sapphires. Glimmering.
Forse. Maybe.

Synchcronicity within the spirit
of poetry, born of all creativity.
For perhaps, the feeling I get at
the passing of the flaming orange,
cream of all drummers, Ginger Baker.

I am innately sorry for not being able to respond earlier. I wonder who Ginger Baker is, but I do love this comment, and the content might definitely be your brilliant direction. Thank you!!

Pacing each wooden moment, floor to my feet: I really liked this one. As if walking on moments of the past, the past defining your steps. Or like defeating the past, walking all over it.

The past defines our steps in the loudest ways, and with a linear gaze scatters roads on which to walk forward. That’s what I think.

“everything is a snapshot dragged across time in flaming orange.” And the sadness here colours everything and plays the music to our heartbeats that magnifies the ache of it.

Thank you for this beautiful comment. I think there are certain eyes that diminish that ache and hide it behind a mirror which only shows you for who you are, flowering an image that is okay, and livid, and perfect.

And those eyes… we need to spend more time within their gaze, blossoming into our best shapes, and our lightest steps, hearts reaching out and touching everyone.

Watt… I love it… feels like yawning loneliness and creative rebirth, and to this I can relate. But it’s all painted through your signature kaleidoscope vision, which places us in a surreal dreamworld, where all which seemed meaningless finally has meaning. Result: balm for my soul. Thank you

Ginger Baker was the legendary
drummer from the Cream, Eric
Clapton’s 60’s band. So named
as the all three members were
considered the cream of rock
musicians at the time. Ginger
Baker died the day of your post.
As I read the words ‘flaming orange’
I had a flash of Ginger Baker, in
concert, working his drum kit in
a manic blur of percussion magic 😎

I love this photo and also the mention of orange. I look for this as well. With the autumn temps, I’m seeing so much orange-red my heart is delighted. I love how you describe this feeling. As I wait for the sky to put on a show. 🙂

The sky is sometimes the most beautiful screen, and it reflects everything so well.

Loved the way you penned this poem. A great example of poetics and imagery. These were the lines that attracted my attention most-
clouds are melting and gurgling like white lightning.
Wonderful work and talented writing. Keep writing like this and bringing a smile upon my face. 😊😊
